Preschool

I have been thinking again about preschool. Preschool can be a good thing.

The big issue I have with preschool is, basically, that I can't afford it. It is costly for two kids to go, and my job here at home, (the one where I bring in no paycheck), makes it more of an option than a need.

I should stop thinking about it.

Whatever happened to all those sibling discounts they used to have out in the world when I was raising only one child???

Preschool is over rated... lol... Truthfully tho...I wasn't impressed with ours...but I know you are needing more of a break..

Hi there -- I am so worried about the preschool expense too. It is really going to strain our budget, and is not absolutely necessary for either child this year. Hence my question in my posts awhile back -- what is the preschool decision really about: giving yourself a little break? providing the kids with a little more structured socialization that prepares them for kindergarten? Whatever it is, I guess we all have to decide whether it is worth the price. My alternate option is a babysitter, which is nearly as expensive, and potentially not as reliable. So I am leaning toward preschool as better means of preserving my own sanity -- it would ensure a consistent routine, at least, and would assure me that it is not all on my shoulders to expose my kids to a variety of activities and skills.

It's a tough one. When it was just the girls I worked full time so it was day care/preschool, then PreK in our parish school etc. With Nick it was day care and when I stopped working full time, 3 days a week preschool, mornings only til he hit PreK again at the parish school. I liked the break for me, and he loved it too, but I know lots of people that didn't do it and didn't miss it....one.bit. Good luck deciding.
